I've patched, compiled and run flashrom -V on my Acer Aspire Revo R3600, 
nVidia MCP79 chipset.
Powered off and even unplugged from the mains before testing.
Out of curiosity I ran it twice, the only difference was the 
'Calibrating delay loop...' line.

Attached is the output of 'flashrom -V' the first run after booting. 
Board has a W25X80AVAIZ SPI flash chip.
