<DIV>Following up on my email from yesterday ... I have verified that flashrom 
did write the BIOS flash from 0x000000 to 0x50FFFF with the binary file 
indicated by the –w in the command line. The workstation booted after the 
indicated FAILED warning because it is the portion of the flash above 0x510000 
that contains the boot code. Flashrom stopped at 0x510000 since it could not 
‘erase’ the first block containing the boot code.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>So it appears that being able to erase (remove the write protection) for 
the area above 0x510000 is the challenge to erase and write. This Z820 board has 
a write_enable jumper for the flash which I had set in the enable position. From 
a hardware point, the flash write is enabled so it is likely a software/register 
setting that also needs to be set.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>HP provides BIOS updates regularly which are used to update the BIOS. 
However, those utilities DO NOT write to the bootblock (0xFF0000 – 0xFFFFFF). It 
is being able to update the bootblock in the BIOS flash that I want to achieve. 
Unfortunately, the bootblock resides in the area flashrom fails.</DIV>

(v0.9.6.1-r1564) reads the flash quite well, I have validated this part. It 
fails however in the erase function, particularly it seems when it get to the
