Today I have tried flashrom on a rather old L372N1 computer (PIV 2,8Ghz,
GC Frontman):

Note: flashrom can never write if the flash chip isn't found automatically.

The BIOS Chip on the mainboard can be accessed easily; it is placed
inside a special hanger and appears to be replacable. There is a sticker
on the BIOS Chip saying:

The current BIOS there has some disadvantages like support with old
style disks up to a maximum of 160GB (manual Cylinder-Head-Sector
configuration); today I have tried it with a 64GB SSD IDE disk and the
BIOS can not boot from it ( CD + floppy boot is o.k.).
How do you believe are the chances to get flashrom running on that
machine or to exchange the BIOS with a newer one?
